Walkington History

The historical maps of the village displayed in the shelter by the village pond give an introduction to the history of Walkington and mention its reference in Domesday.

What else do we know about our village and its origins? See the History section to find out.
As further items of information become available they will be added to this website.

The photograph above shows the pond without the barrier and boardwalk as it looked about 60 years ago, click on the image for a larger view.
Do you have photographs of old Walkington that would be of interest to others? If so let us know and we will include some of them here.

For further information about the history of Walkington visit GEN UKI Walkington or look at our History section.
