Do you need help?
If you have a problem and would like volunteers to help please let us know and we will include it here ...contact us. Items will normally stay for about a month unless you let us know they can be removed earlier.

Are you a blood donor and on the Bone Marrow Register?

Most of us probably think of blood transfusions being needed following accidents or during surgery, to replace blood lost due to bleeding. However, for many people with blood disorders which affect their own ability to produce normal blood cells, regular transfusions are essential to enable them to lead a normal life. See this page for details of how you can help others.

Request for newsletter distributors

We are looking for newsletter distributors in the Beech View and Autherd Garth area. Vi Collinson, who has been a distributor for many years has decided to “retire”. Well done to you Vi – you are a lovely lady and the newsletter team, the village and especially those to whom you deliver, are extremely grateful to you for all the years of hard work, come rain or shine! If you are interested please contact Brenda Bowe (881730)

Contact with Rob Lyon

I am trying to make contact with an old aquaintance called Rob Lyon. The last I knew of him (15 years ago) he had moved to Walkington. He is/was? a technology teacher in one of the Hull schools.  My wife and I would very much like to make contact again. I thank you for any help in anticipation. David and Ann Watson

School Orchestra / Instrumental group : Help Required

If any villager has the talent and time to help lead a school instrumental group consisting of children aged 7-11, playing various instruments please contact Chris Dunnachie on 863074. Many thanks

Jam Jars Wanted

Jean Williams would like to thank everyone who continues to provide clean jars for her fund-raising preserves. She would especially like some more small jars (maybe 6-8oz) if anyone has any - and if anyone could spare some time getting rid of sticky-labels for her, this help would be gratefully received. Please contact Jean if you can help. Telephone 867123

NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH

The appeal in the Newsletter some months ago for estate or street co-ordinators produced only one offer of help! For a Village renowned for it's community spirit, this was very disappointing. Neighbourhood Watch is designed to foster more effective police support so as to create a safer society. Apart from this obvious benefit, householders within a NW Scheme enjoy preferential house insurance rates because of lower criminal activity. All this is only possible by having sufficient co-ordinators to give acceptable area coverage. If you are willing to help please contact George Southern – telephone 868704.
