Extremely fast bowlers, energetic fielders and talented tea makers will be made especially welcome!

Under 13’s Venture Forth
Walkington Under 13’s played their first competitive match against Cottingham Under 13’s at the playing fields on Monday 14th July.

Cottingham won the toss and put Walkington into bat in this 20 over match.  Walkington then progressed to 48 for 8 in their overs against some excellent bowling and catching from a strong Cottingham side.  Ben Watson made a notable contribution with the bat before taking 2 wickets in his first over with the ball to put Cottingham under early pressure.

Despite tight bowling from  Ben Malkin and William Webster and two late wickets from Ben Tuffs, Cottingham’s experience shone through as they overtook

Walkington’s total.

The match was played in an excellent sporting atmosphere and despite the result was an enjoyable experience for the Walkington side who should be encouraged by their performance in this first outing.

Team – C Drummond, B.Malkin, B. Tuffs, B.Watson, L Nellan, F Nellan, S Gibson M Green, G Kirby, R Forrest, , H Newborn, W. Webster

Walkington V Dalton Holme – 12th July

Surprisingly the weather at South Dalton was nowhere near as bad as here at Walkington and the game started on time and progressed without interruption. Walkington won the toss and asked Dalton Holme to bat first. With the assistance of wicket with variable bounce, Elliott and Ford were soon making it hard work for the Dalton batsman reducing the home team to 16-3 in this most delightful country setting.  Experienced hand Darren Williamson (31) steadied the ship and contributions from his brother Phil (24) and team mate Andy Kingdom (31 n.o) enabled Dalton Holme to use all their 40 overs to post a total of 107 for 7 with Craig Ford the pick of the Walkington bowlers taking 4 for 28 off 16 overs.

Missing Captain and leading run scorer Ben Gardiner, Walkington could not repeat their batting feats against Hessle and proceeded to make their second real hash of chasing a low score this season. Against some fine bowling from Martin Gamble 7 for 21 off 9 overs and some good catches Walkington were all out for 47 with Chris Cook (20) the only batsman to make double figures.

The Cricket Club would like to thank the Parish Council for their contribution towards the roller.

If you would like to come down and watch, our remaining home fixture is:
