New Library Service for Walkington
From Thursday 1st November, Walkington has an upgraded library service. The Travelling Library will be at East End, adjacent to the Village Hall, every Thursday from 2.00 p.m. until 7.30 p.m. The Travelling Library has a range of fiction and non-fiction books, Large Print books, and Spoken Word. You can also borrow children’s books and stories on CD and tape. The East Riding Library Service Catalogue can be viewed via the computers on board, and books from other East Riding Libraries can be requested free of charge. There is also an East Riding Citizenlink terminal on some of the vehicles, from which you can be linked to a Customer Service Centre for the Council.

The public can book the use of two People’s Network terminals to access the Internet. Popular sites are Ancestry.com and other genealogy websites. The East Riding of Yorkshire website, Libraries, Museums and Archives section, is also worth a look, to see how new technology can help you request and renew books, via your own East Riding Libraries borrower information.
The Travelling Library staff will be happy to help you with this or any other aspect of library use.
The vehicle has its own telephone number, and during opening hours can be contacted on (01482) 392589. Any other enquiries about the Travelling or Mobile Library Service can be made on (01482) 392721/22, during office hours.
